Temple Church

We were involved in the survey and assessment of this important transitional Gothic portal in central London, consecrated in 1185.  Like the church, the beautifully carved Caen stone doorway was subjected to a number of repairs and restorations, particularly during the 19th Century.

To fully understand the condition of the historic fabric it was necessary to research the scope and level of intervention undertaken in the previous restorations.  At the same time, monitoring the current environmental conditions was essential to better understand how the stone performed in all conditions. For Purcell.
